Tamar Khuntsaria – Prospect of Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA) – Is There a European Way for Georgia?

The paper discusses the mode and direction of the country’s economic development and offers analysis of the two fundamentally different development models of Singapore and the EU in the context of Georgia. Next, the paper reviews the background of launching DCFTA negotiations and the level of the former governing elite’s commitment to the reforms required under DCFTA process. Finally, it discusses the EU’s various programmes in Georgia and the extent to which these programs have influenced the reform process in the country.
