Kevin Tuite – The Reception of Marr and Marrism in the Soviet Georgian Academy

In order to give a brief but representative overview of Marr’s reception in Soviet Georgian academia, author begins by laying out the dominant stances and some of the key figures in each camp, followed by a case study: an exchange of articles concerning a rather esoteric problem in Kartvelian linguistics, in which representatives of each group debated what were in fact fundamental issues concerning Georgian ethnogenesis.
