Identity Studies is a scholarly journal founded in 2009. Its aim is to advance interdisciplinary knowledge about the formation and disintegration of political, cultural and societal identities in contemporary world society, particularly in the Caucasus and Black Sea region. The journal is being published by the Institute for Modernity Studies, Ilia State University, Georgia.
The 1st issue of the journal, published in 2009, consists of articles by Gigi Tevzadze, Sergo Ratiani, Oliver Reisner, George Anchabadze, David Aprasidze, Giga Zedania, Ghia Nodia and David Darchiashvili, dedicated to the questions of the origin of nationalism in Georgia.
The 2nd issue of the journal, published in 2010, consists of articles by Zaal Andronikashvili, Giorgi Maisuradze, Efrat Sadras-Ron, Silvia Serrano, Gigi Tevzadze, Anastas Vangeli and Johannes Weiss, dedicated to the questions of secularization and de-secularization in contemporary world.
The 3rd issue of the journal, published in 2011, consists of articles by Elena Glushko, Andrew McGrath, Sergo Ratiani, Gigi Tevzadze, Kakhaber Kurtanidze, Zaal Andronikashvili and Giga Zedania, dedicated to the question of political theology, its history and its revival today.
